Statistics of Events Observed by FMT

The below is the statistical table of flares observed by the FMT (Flare Monitoring Telescope) from 1992 through 2001. For comparison, the number of flares (above C-class) detected by GOES satellite in the same decde is also presented.
Here is the figures on which the data is plotted.

  • The number of FMT flares began from 11th May, 1992.
  • The flares were detected on blue wing images (H-alpha -0.8 angstrom) by eyes. Using blue wing images, instead of center (H-alpha line center) images might reduce the number of flares. Please recognize the numbers, therefore, as the lower limit.
  • About flare size
S = Smaller than 5x5 deg on the solar surface.
M = Between 5x5 and 10x10 deg.
L = Larger than 10x10 deg.
