Particle acceleration by shocks is one of the most important process in space and in the context of space weather. To be able to quantitatively predict particle flux associated with solar eruptive events, we need to know the details of the dynamics of collisionless shocks. In this paper, we present recent progress of particle acceleration made by the GEOTAIL spacecraft at the Earth's bow shock and extend the results to particle acceleration by interplanetary shocks as well as shocks in the solar corona.
