Observations of Solar Flares and Eruptive Events With the X-Ray Telescope on Hinode

The X-Ray Telescope (XRT) on Hinode has broad temperature coverage, and high time and spatial and temporal resolution, making it an ideal instrument for observing solar flares. Even though it was launched near solar minimum, XRT has already observed some interesting flaring regions. In this talk, I will present some first results from XRT that show evidence for reconnection in solar flares, including supra- arcade downflows and field line shrinkage, and show how the many X- ray filters on XRT can be used to glean temperature information about flares and eruptive events.
