Received: 2 August 2022 at 00:19 JST

Hi all,

Some brief moments of fair to good seeing on the 30th allowed a better result than previously.

Oval is BA is seen at lower left. Many complex spots along the STB latitudes paints a rather chaotic picture across this region.

Received: 29 July 2022 at 21:10 JST

Hi all,

Here is the Saturn images from the same night.

Seeing was really good, which allowed me to take my first B, Violet and UV images since many years.

The behavior of the details of Saturn in these three bands looks rather different from that of Jupiter. UV looks really different than B.

The color image is assembled with Rc, V, B frames that were not aimed at that, so I "faked" the derotation just to see belts and colors, but of course not any kind of other details.

On the Rc image, some structure can be see in the winter hemisphere.

Hi all,

Here are my first Jupiter images of the new season, taken under superb seeing.

The B filter benefited from particularly good conditions.

Sloan filters are used to partially test the method developped by Jean-Luc Dauvergne to assemble a color image from g' and r' filters.

Dear Jupiter observers,

This morning I imaged Jupiter in the IR, and while conditions were very poor, with low transparency, and I was sufficiently intrigued by a dark marking in the NEB on the p side to process this image straight away to send to you, in case it is something interesting.

It is at 13º L1.

Here are my first images of Jupiter this year. Very pleased with these, good for 31º altitude in a bright sky. Better should be possible soon.

These are taken 9 minutes apart, so almost identical, the first made from 135s of imaging, the second from 90s, with a colour camera.

Hi all,

Although I had some decent seeing a bit earlier, as I moved onto Mars things went downhill quickly.

Hellas and Syrtis Major remain in view. The IR is probably the most useful, again showing some brightness gradients in Hellas. Weather looks clear over Curiosity rover.

Hellas is at upper centre, showing some possible brightening in its northern region in the IR. But no dramatic activity noted.

Hi all,

With seeing conditions so poor that having had a quick look at Jupiter, I decided it would not be worth imaging, I did spend a bit of time on Mars purely because I felt the higher frame rates may give me some chance.

The IR was best, with the shorter wavelengths again suffering. Hellas is at upper left with Syrtis Major on the terminator. Processing was hard work- often an indication that the data was poor.

Best regards, Clyde
