¤••••• Subject: Jupiter images with the Orange blob of the NTBs

Received: 1 April 2025, 03:17 JST

Hi all, good seeing yesterday evening.

This curious feature is very dark in UV but is as well CH4 bright (same coordinates at +23‹N and L1 = 77‹).

Globally, the orange flush of the southern NTB behaves like other strong red colorations and indicates high and colored clouds (just like the EZ band in 2021), however, this is supposed to be a belt not a zone... latitudes of the orange band is ~+23 to +28‹ N.

For curiosity I built a false color image with only UV and CH4 ; the whole NTBs is popping out in deep orange... (there is also a strange red feature in the STrZ)

Hi all,

Imaging opportunities continue to be scarce as the cloudy conditions continue, thankfully with further wonderful rain.

I did manage to snatch this data set on the 27th under poor conditions, with Syrtis Major to the left of centre.

Jupiter on March 27th, good seeing, with the preceding part of the orange sector of the NTB. At the eyepiece the orange color was easy to see, in comparison with a more brownish NEB.

Oval BA and the mid-SEB outbreak are slowly heading towards the GRS 😉

Note that despite being caught very close to the limb, in CH4 the bright center of the GRS is detected.

Hello,

I am sending over last nights images.  The seeing became much worse as the session progressed.

Also, morning fog in Tharsis with the volcanic peaks poking above the fog.

Also some fog is visible in Argye as well as some hints of an Equatorial Cloud Belt showing up well in the blue image from the second set of images.

Some images with the end of the orange sector of the NTB.

A more conspicuous orange patch is at the end, well visible and dark in B/UV.

A very bright EZ plume is visible as well. Currently the state of the EZ look really close to that of 1999 and 2006...

Hi all,

Image set from yesterday evening. Conditions were not bad.

M Erythraeum is at upper left, with Valles Marineris and Solis Lacus above centre. Aurorae Sinus upper left of centre. Chryse is to the centre left with Nilokeras, Niliacus Lacus and M Acidalium at lower left.

Olympus Mons can be made out on the centre right limb, with the 3 Tharsis Montes to its upper left, all visible through/above the morning cloud that is evident in the B image.

Hi all,

Fairly good seeing yesterday evening. The UV image is showing that the NTB is now darker in that band than the NEB (at least at these longitude), which is not the case in the B image, so there might be some areosol coloration in the reviving belt.

STB blue ghosts are also presents.

Dear all,

Here's a bunch of Mars images that I finally managed to process. From Nov 16 to Jan 26 I did not obtain a single image, mostly because of clouds or too strong winds for my scope to cope with. Lately there have been more opportunities, though I unfortunately missed the opposition period and a large disk.

On the 2025 Feb 19 image I believe there is some kind of defect on the B image, manifesting as a whitish area across Libya, and G was not successful at all (thus a synthetic R+B stack).

I'm off to OzSky the next three weeks but hope for some more Mars images when I return.
