Hi all,

I am finding better conditions in the evening than in the morning, and had a nice session on Mars last night.

The Eden/Oxia region was remarkably bright on screen, and I suspected possible dust activity, but I see on Tomio Akutsufs latest images that things look normal in that region. The bright limb unfortunately exacerbates the edge artefact.

Interesting extended diffuse feature at upper left, which I interpret as cloud, but it is interesting that it is quite obvious in the R and R610 images.

Thanks, Clyde. The Tharsis clouds have been continuous with the equatorial cloud band lately.

Interesting prominence of the Lowellian canal Hydaspes, across Chryse. I don't think that I've ever seen it this dark.

It may be an artifactual albedo feature due to dust or even a cloud, but the R, G, & B images don't appear to declare it so. It merits follow-up.

Jupiter on April 9th. Seeing was very good at sunset but degraded quickly.

This is the sector where the NTB is not red - the red sector does not seem to be spreading and looks stalled.

On March 30th I have observed a reddish feature in the STrZ.

Although small and faint, it is see again and is clearly CH4 bright (but not particularily dark in UV, it seems).

Hi all,

The first totally cloud free evening in quite a while.

Elysium is just to the lower right of centre, with the cloud over Olympus Mons very noticeable on the lower left limb.

Hi all,

Mid-SEB outbreak sector as well as the red NTBs. The orange "blob" is still there and still CH4-bright.

I will have also some images from this evening 7th April under good seeing.

The dark CH4 sector of the EZ band looks really black ! Center of GRS is CH4 bright.

In order to increase the resolution in IR since the planet is now quite "small",

I'm using the Astronomik BP642 filter instead of the Baader Bessel I.

Jupiter on March 31th, good seeing again.

These images show the preceding end of the orange sector of NTBs.

As a curious note, the very dark CH4 features on EZs/SEBn can not be identified clearly on other images, not even regular infrared.

Hi Mr Minami,

I am hoping you get this mail because every other recent attempt to contact
you directly has ended in rejection of my mail to you. I have tried from two
POP3 email accounts on my PCand also from my phone but nothing has worked.

This time I am trying from my gmail account. I received your email from a
week or so back to say that you had downloaded my Mars images from my
website
www.skyinspector <http://www.skyinspector>  which I was very pleased
about. Despite that, my reply to your email was also rejected

Hopefully you will get these images for your database.

Is there any alternative email address I can try with my existing email
accounts for future postings?

Hi all,

I swung over to Mars after cloud closed over Jupiter, but only managed some R610 captures before the cloud also closed over Mars. Syrtis Major to the right of centre.

¤••••• Subject: Jupiter images with the Orange blob of the NTBs

Received: 1 April 2025, 03:17 JST

Hi all, good seeing yesterday evening.

This curious feature is very dark in UV but is as well CH4 bright (same coordinates at +23‹N and L1 = 77‹).

Globally, the orange flush of the southern NTB behaves like other strong red colorations and indicates high and colored clouds (just like the EZ band in 2021), however, this is supposed to be a belt not a zone... latitudes of the orange band is ~+23 to +28‹ N.

For curiosity I built a false color image with only UV and CH4 ; the whole NTBs is popping out in deep orange... (there is also a strange red feature in the STrZ)
