Hi all,

Sunrise conditions were again poor, and with other commitments,

I only returned to the observatory about 2hrs after sunrise. I found some reasonable seeing for the R610LP, but deteriorating too much for any RGB.

Any dust activity in the Valles Marineris region appears to have dissipated, and it is interesting to see that Margaritifer Sinus is quite well seen.

Hi all,

Given what looked like some dust activity in/near Valles Marineris yesterday, I was hoping to get a good look this morning.

Unfortunately conditions deteriorated badly after Saturn, and I had to make do with a lengthy series of R610LP’s to try and get some indication of status. Nothing as obvious as yesterday, but I also note the light strip across Margaritifer Sinus.

Captured under severe Jetstream conditions.

Hi everyone,

I agree. I think high winds in Valles Marineris! going from West to Eastern end of Valles Marineris! collect much dust. Then the airborne dust in VM hits the Eastern wall (Eos) and gets propelled upward forming a cloud.

Our first observed dust cloud.in the 2026- 2027 apparition.

Good seeing,

Hi all,

Very variable conditions around sunrise this morning, and the best data was again well after sunrise.

The expanse of M Erythraeum is above centre, with Solis Lacus towards the upper right.

Sinus Meridiani is on the left limb.

Chryse is below centre and I am wondering if there may be some dust activity in the Eos region.

Temp outside the observatory was -5 deg C, and the relative comfort of the control room was welcome!

View is centred on Valles Marineris with Solis Lacus to the upper right of centre.

Hi all,

I found a marked improvement in seeing well after sunrise this morning.

Just a pity I was not able to get good B data.

A rather classic view of the “Eye of Mars”- Solis Lacus, with the Valles Marineris complex extending below it.

The small SPC was very noticeable.

Another morning where I had some really nice conditions. Unfortunately I was a bit rushed for time, and wasn’t able to catch good B data.

The tiny SPC may be made out, with lightness again seen over the NPR(G).
