Hi all, here's an image of Saturn from this morning using a
685nm longpass filter in steady conditions but with
moderate jetstream
blurring that softens much of the fine detail. 17 images spanning 31 minutes
were measured and combined in Winjupos.
The storm remnant from 2011 is faintly visible as a small
dark spot at top centre on the disk.
Rhea is the moon above Saturn, with Tethys to the
left above the rings and Dione at lower right.
Some very faint hints of spoke activity is
present on the left side of the rings.

Hi all, here's an image of Saturn from this morning in reasonable
seeing using a 685nm longpass filter.
Some slight spoke activity is visible on both the rising
(left) and setting (right) sides of the ring. Dione
can be seen above Saturn.
17 images spanning 46 minutes were measured and derotated in Winjupos.

Hi ,
I have attached my image of Mars
It just passed the central meridian well over 70 degrees above
the horizon.
At CM 193 degrees, Mare Cimmerium
dominates the disk and it is well seen.
Both polar regions look dull. Also,
at Ls - 324 degrees which is mid-summer in the southern hemisphere,
the
atmospheric condition looks free of haze.

Hi all, here's an image of Saturn from this morning using Baader 685nm longpass,
Sunobserver eADC and Baader FFC on my 415mm
f/4 newtonian.
5 images spanning 7 minutes were combined in Winjupos.
The session was disrupted by cloud and below average seeing
so not a lot of small scale detail can be seen.
There's a hint of some spoke activity on the ring at left
and some details can be seen on the planet.

Hi everyone, here's Saturn from this morning in a period of
steady seeing from Rubyvale.
10 images spanning 29 minutes were combined to get this
result through a 685nm longpass filter, showing more
spoke activity
on the left.
I chose to leave the "false Mimas" artifact
in the image so I could mention it for other people who are using Winjupos for combining
images...
I've brought this up in the past but now seems
like a good opportunity to remind everyone about it.
You can see it here as a small black spot on the left of
Saturn, just above the ring.
It's caused by a side effect of the "derotation of moons" option in WJ... even when the
moon in question is too small or faint - as Mimas
surely is in this image - the derotation algorithm
still tries to correct it's position,
causing a small defect to appear at the moons final position that is then
sharpened into a conspicuous black spot.
I would normally turn the "derotation
of moons" off to prevent this but then I would also miss out on seeing
Rhea at top and Enceladus, just above the rings at
left.

morning on Saturn in between the clouds.
I've included a short animation showing the movement of spokes
on the sunrise portion of the B ring at left.
I used a 685nm longpass filter for
this data.
