Myron E WASIUTA #222

Letters to the Editor

from Myron E WASIUTA in CMO #222

@. . . . After what seemed like forever, I have finally been able to secure some ccd images of Mars. The seeing was only fair during my observation, but some cloud detail is visible in the blue and violet images-suggesting well-formed SPH and possibly an NPH as well. Chryse also appears bright.
I have some recent visual observations that I will be forwarding via airmail ASAP. Thanks again for your very valuable service.

@. . . . Please accept these sketches for CMO. Our weather in Virginia has been uncooperative, and my family has been on vacation. I will continue to follow Mars and keep sending my observations.

@. . . . Enclosed are my latest observations of Mars. It's getting hard to discern detail as Mars gets smaller. My south-west horizon is very good, so I plan to continue to observe late in the apparition. My hopes are to be able to obtain more CCD images, but lately my work has prevented me from setting up. I guess I need an observatory, so all my equipment could be ready at a moment's notice. Thanks again for a great service, and I am looking forward to more correspondence.
