LtE in CMO #278

From  Richard SCHMUDE, Jr

Dear  Masatsugu Minami,

Enclosed are copies of about 20 drawings of Mars that I have made along with one blue light photograph of Mars. The photograph shows some limb hazes and the south polar cap.

I plan to send you tables of intensity estimates, estimated sizes of the spc and blue clearing estimates in the future.

Mars’ magnitude reached a peak value of -2.90 in the United States. I believe that from Japan the brightness may have  reached  -2.95 because you watched a brighter part of Mars on opposition day.

With best regards,

 (5 September 2003)
