Invitation
Dear Masatsugu: I spoke on the telephone
with Don Parker this morning and we discussed the possibility of you and one or
more of your OAA colleagues visiting the USA to observe a portion of the 2003 apparition of Mars. In
August of next year the ALPO convention will be occur here in Ohio, and you would have the opportunity to meet Walter Haas and Tom Cave in person. You would be welcome as an honored guest at my
home with a private room and bath. My home of more than 300 square meters is
located in rural Ohio on the
shores of a lake with fishing and swimming, as well as good "seeing."
My private observatory would be at your command, with a 38cm Schmidt-Cassegrain, 10cm and 15cm refractors, a 20 cm Cassegrain, CCD and video cameras, etc... Don Parker and
Jeff Beish (as well as Bill Sheehan) would visit as well, so we could enjoy one another's
company in a relaxing setting with plenty of food and drink.
In addition, my extensive
astronomical library would be at your disposal.
With kind regards,
Tom
