LtE in CMO #256

From   Johan WÅRELL

@ . . . . . . . . . . I hope you and your Mars colleagues are well. I greatly appreciate receiving the CMO and thank you very much for still sending it to me, even though I am currently not active in observing the planet. Next apparition I hope to be able to produce some observations again, with Mars higher in the sky and with more spare times as my Ph D studies will be over (I am now in the final stages).

In this letter I enclose a preprint of my latest paper on Mercury which I hope you will find interesting. It deals with the photometric analysis of disk-resolved observations based on image data obtained with the Swedish Vacuum Solar Telescope on La Palma. Currently, the mew 1-m solar telescope is being assembled on the island, and within the year I hope to be able to perform planetary observations with it. Mars will of course be a target, if observable.

All the best wishes for the New Year!

(7 January 2002 email)

(Note)  The preprint enclosed is entitled:  "Properties of the Hermean regolith: II. Disk-resolved multicolor photometry and color variations of the unknown hemisphere" (to appear in Icarus)
