Subject: Saturn December 7th 2003

 

Hi Saturn Observers

 

Here is an observation from December 7th 2003. There are several features that can be seen to rotate with the globe of Saturn. The sky was clear, transparency was very good 8/10, and seeing was very good to excellent 8-9/10. No wind and light dew. The temperature was cool in low 40s F.

        Ed Grafton, Houston Texas, ST5C CCD and a 14 inch f/11 Celestron SCT

 

        Barlow Projection to f/27 aprox .21 arc seconds per pixel.

 

        Image data:

 

                Red filter, .6 sec

                Green filter .8 sec

                Blue filter 1.0 sec   

                Clear filter,  No IR  .3 sec

Subject: Mars Observation December 15th 2003 @ 0:36 UT

 

Hi Mars Observers

 

Here is an image from December 15th 2003 @ 0:36 UT. The dust cores are quite prominent. The sky transparancy was excellent 9/10, and the seeing was fair to good 6/10.

Hi Mars Observers

 

Here is an image from December 18th 2003 @ 0:17 UT. Looks like the Dust storm is expanding. The sky transparency was excellent 9/10, and the seeing was fair to fair 4-5/10.
