Dear Masatsugu,

Thank you for your message. I hope you have had a happy birthday with your family.

I shared your Japanese saying with my wife and children, all of whom enjoyed it immensely. I am glad my analysis of Lowell's phrases was helpful. You are right about Hearn's statement.

We have had many patients ill with the flu and various other bugs recently, and I am home sick - nothing really deadly - today, after having probably caught the sickness at work. Since retiring from service to the state of Virginia, I have enjoyed working more hours at my old part-time job at the hospital.

Happy New Year to you and your family and CMO colleagues.

Sincerely,

Sam WHITBY (Hopewell, VA, USA)
