LtE in CMO #262

From William SHEEHAN

© . . . . . . . . . Dear Masatsugu, Your excellent letter to hand -- my deepest gratitude.

I will respond fully next few days, including to all the exciting ideas regarding a possible adventure in Japan in spring 2004.  I would be very happy to travel to Japan before the transit of Venus -- the latter I will probably observe as part of the ASP's tours in either Tanzania or the Aegean, but not, as you know, until June 2004.

Meanwhile, I am wishing to respond to the specific questions without delay.

First, the Japanese translation of Noto arrived within two or three days of your sending it.  I was surprised at the rapidity of its passage.  So I do believe that SAL would be a viable option for sending out copies of the Mars reports.

Also, I am honored to be asked to provide a preface to the Lowell web page!  I shall be only too pleased to oblige.  I shall make this my highest priority.

   More soon, dear friend,

     (7 July 2002 email)
