Hi Mars Observers

Here is an image from July 02th 2003 at 09:43 UT taken from Houston, Texas.

Dust activity noted by D. Parker and J. Beish on July 1st seems to be prominent in the area of Iapygia on the Northern rim of Hellas. The sky was mostly cloudy with only a few short gaps in the clouds where a few frames could be captured.

Hi Mars Observers

The Dust Cloud has expanded South and now obscures the southern part of Hellas. Other changes since July 2nd are also present. The western end of Sinus Sabaeus and Mare Serpentis have bright cores present. Another bright core has appeared near the eastern rim of the SPC.

The sky was mostly clear with only a few clouds in the clouds. The transparency was very good 8/10 and the seeing was good to excellent 8-9/10.

Hi Mars Observers

The dust activity seems to be most intense on the northeastern segment of the Hellas basin, somewhat less intense over Mare Hadriacum and Iapygia.

Sky: The clouds parted somewhat right before dawn allowing for an image of the dust area. The sky was mostly cloudy with only a few breaks at the low level  and cirrus at higher levels. The transparency was poor 3/10 and the seeing was fair to good 6/10.
