Hi All,

     Attached are some Mars images from 13 July. No major dust activity.

           ST9XE CCD Camera  Eyepiece Projection @ f/55.4

                       Integration Times:

 RED (RG610 Red Filter, 610-1100nm: NO IR Rejection)    0.12s 1-2  images

 GREEN (CFW8C, 531nm central; BWHM 86nm)    0.37-0.39s    5-9 images

 BLUE (CFW8C, 450nm central, BWHM 116nm)   1.20s  5-7 images

             Images bias, flat and dark corrected.

 

Seeing fair (5-7, Pickering).  Transparency variable (0-5.0 m) with frequent fast cumulus clouds. Wind E 7-14 kts. No dew. Altitude = 51 degrees.

 

Minimal clouds. Only a small orographic over Arsia Mons. Thin AM limb arc. Light haze over Eridania, bright in green. Possible small dust cloud in Northern Electris near southern border of Atlantis I. Trivium-Cerberus remains weak. SPC rifts prominent: Ulyxix Fr., Rima Australis, Magna Dep. Thyles Mons bright near CM. Violet Clearing = 0. Olympus very dark in blue and green.

     Here are some images we took of the Mars grazing occultation from south central Florida.

     Scope: 6-in f/8 Newtonian, 3X Barlow IR Rejection filter

     ToUCam Pro, 1/33 sec

     Each image stacked from 8-12 frames. Processed and stacked in Registax.

             Images bias, flat and dark corrected.

 

Seeing fair (5-6, Pickering).  Transparency  4.0 m with high cirrus.

Wind E 0-2 kts. No dew. Altitude = 51 degrees.

 

Minimal cloud activity. Violet Clearing = 0. Phasis and Sirenum M. broken up into numerous dark nucleii.

 BLUE (CFW8C, 450nm central, BWHM 116nm)   0.95s  9 images

             Images bias, flat and dark corrected.

 

Seeing fair (6, Pickering), with occasional moments of excellence.  Transparency  5.0 m with occ clouds. Wind ESE 0-6 kts. No dew. Altitude = 50-51 degrees.

 

SPC becoming mottled, irregular. Minimal clouds. Violet Clearing = 1+  Solis Lacus remains elongated N-S. Small spot on its southern tip -- bright in red -- dust?

Seeing good (8, Pickering).  Transparency  4.5-5.0 m. No wind. Light dew. Altitude = 51 degrees.

 

SPC mottled and has irregular edge in red light. NP Hood bright. Minimal Cloud activity. Violet Clearing = 0. Small, dark nucleii in Solis Lacus. Numerous "canals" in Thaumasia also breaking up into dark nucleii.
