Particle Simulations of Collisionless Reconnection in the Relativistic Current Sheets Ken-Ichi Nishikawa We have performed 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional particle simulations of reconnections with a Harris sheet configuration. We had found that 2-D simulation had developed as had been discussed previously by (Pritchett, et al 2001). The magnetic field intensity levels had been partially restored in the diffusion region after reconnection had occurred, but the electron current density levels in the diffusion region had decreased consistently after reconnection. This simulation is extended to include relativistic current sheets. The evolution of relativistic drift kink instability (RDKI) and relativistic tearing instability (RTI) (reconnection) is studied with several simulations. Particle acceleration associated with instabilities will be investigated.
