Time Schedule of Conference Program -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- A. March 6th and 7th nights Most restaurants in the hotel will be closed at 21:00. Only some restaurants will be available till 24:00 (order stop 23:00). So you ought to arrive the hotel early. When you eat supper, please pay by yourself. The accommodation fee is 20% discounted for 6th and 7th night. Please check in by 22:00 for the hotel. B. Registration Registration desk will be open from 16:00 to 20:00 on 7th March in front of the conference room ("Royal Hall") on the ground floor. Our conference poster (Naruto Strait) will lead you to the desk. The desk will be open at 8:30 in the 8th morning. Registration fee is 10000YEN (Cash only). It includes banquet, abstract book, coffee, sweets, (and limited number of pen and notebook). We assume all participants will join the excursion tour to Naruto Strait. The tour fee is 2000YEN. It should be paid at the registration desk in cash. C. Excursion Tour We are planning to go to sea to see Naruto Strait called 'Uzu-shio' on 9th morning. The Naruto Strait whirlpool are caused by the ebb and flow of the tides. A popular food called 'Naruto' is named because the vortex pattern is on it. We will go to Naruto city through the Oo-Naruto-Bridge by bus, and arrive at 'Uzu-no-Michi' (Road for Vortex). We can take a stroll along a promenade inside the bridge. The Obseration room is 450 meters from the anchorage on the shore. We can enjoy Naruto Strait, which is 45 meters beneath us, and a full 360 degree views. We will leave the hotel at 9:00am on 9th Mar. The tour fee is 2000YEN per one person. Detailed time schedule will be announced in the conference. D. To Speakers We will make the electronic proceedings. Please contact the LOC after your talk. We will collect your presentation files, if you feel comfortable with this. Both PC projector and OverHead Projector are available in the conference room. E. To Poster presenters Poster size is A0 (90cm width x 180cm height). Pins are available. We wish to ask a 3 minutes talk for all poster presentation. All Poster presenters should contact the LOC to give your ppt file or a copy of your OHP sheets before poster presentation (during the coffee break in the morning or lunch time in the first day). These files and copy will also be included in the electronic proceedings if you feel comfortable with it. F. Internet Internet is not available in the hotel. We can use internet only through telephone and modem. The use is charged. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ G. Credit card The hotel and restaurants in the hotel accept credit cards (Master, Visa, JCB, DC, UC, UFJ, Amex, Diners Club). But our registration desk, excursion tour, taxi, bus, train do not accept credit cards(except for large JR stations). Registration fee 10000YEN :Cash only (including banquet, abstract book, coffee, sweets etc.) Acommodation fee 16000YEN/day (single) :Cash or Card 12000YEN/day (sharing) :Cash or Card (including breakfasts and suppers) (+5% tax) (It will be 20% discounted for 6th and 7th nights) Excursion tour fee 2000YEN :Cash only (Naruto Strait) Lunch about 2000YEN/day :Cash or Card (+5% tax) Supper (6th and 7th night) about 2000YEN/day :Cash or Card (+5% tax) The traffic fee is shown on our webpage. Taxi, bus, train usually do not accept any credit cards (except for large JR stations). The taxi usually do not accept any credit card. The taxi fee could be about 20000YEN (????..maybe), if you would miss the final bus. Some hotels and restaurants request us additional 10% service fee or special or regional tax. There are not any banks, ATM, nor stores where we can reach on foot. You should exchange enough cash in Airport. A Shop is available from 7:00 to 21:00 in the hotel (card is accepted). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ H. Access The web site http://www.kwasan.kyoto-u.ac.jp/mr2005/ provides you how to access the Awaji-shima Island and Minami Awaji Royal Hotel. Here we suggest some routes: (1) Bus from Osaka Kansai Airport, (2) From Osaka Itami Airport, (3) From Narita/Tokyo Airport, and (4) Ferry from Osaka Kansai Airport: ----------------------------------- (1) From Osaka Kansai Airport (KIX) The distance from KIX to the hotel is about 100 km. Taking buses is the best way to go there. (a) First, take a coach to 'Kobe-Sannomiya'. It is about 1-hour trip and there are 3 or 4 services per hour from 6:30 to 22:30. It costs 1800 YEN. The coach will take you in front of the Sannomiya railway station in the downtown of Kobe city. (b1) Graduate students (Mr. Shiota & Mr. Narukage) with our conference poster will be waiting for you around top 'Kobe-Sannomiya' from 15:00 to 18:50. They will show you the way to the hotel. If you miss them and need their help, call Mr. Shiota's mobile phone (090-4297-6293) or Minami Awaji Royal Hotel (0799-52-3011) (Or ask any passengers). (b2) Then, find a bus stop named 'Sannomiya Shinki bus terminal' which is located at the northeastern side of the station building ('Shinki Bus' is a company's name). Take a bus to Fukura. It is about 1.5-hour trip and there are 1 or 2 services per hour from 7:30 to 21:30. It costs 2200 YEN. (c) Finally, take a taxi from the Fukura bus terminal to "Minami-Awaji Royal Hotel". It takes about 10 minutes and may cost less than 2000 YEN. Time table for evening or night. It is almost the same for everyday (weekday and holiday). Time table may be changed by weather and traffic situation. Refer item (b) in (1) above for the travel from the Osaka Kansai airport. ----------------------------------- (3) From Narita/Tokyo Airport The distance from the Narita/Tokyo airport to the venue is about 700 km. There are two choices, taking another domestic flight or taking Shinkansen Super-Express train. (3-1) By airplane: (a) First, go to the Haneda/Tokyo airport from Narita/Tokyo airport. There are services of coach connecting directly between them. It takes 1.5 hour and costs 3000 YEN. (b) Then, take a flight to the Osaka Itami Airport. Refer item (2) above for the travel from the Osaka Itami airport. (3-2) By Shinkansen Super-Express train: (a) First, go to the Tokyo JR (Japan Railway) station by train. There are services of direct connection of the JR line there named 'Narita Express' from the Narita/Tokyo airport to the Tokyo JR station. (b) Take Shinkansen from Tokyo to 'Shin-Kobe'. It takes about 3 hours. The cost for Shinkansen and Narita express is about 17,000 YEN. (c) At the Shin-Kobe station, take the subway to 'Sannomiya'. It's just a 10-minutes ride. (d) Then, take a bus to Fukura. Refer item (b) in (1) above for the travel from the Osaka Kansai airport. ----------------------------------- 4) From Kansai Airport: Boat is Suggested by Awaji Island Tourist Association (linked from MR2005 web).
