Hi all,
here's an image and animation of Saturn from last night.
Seeing was
variable but sometimes quite ok. I used a 685nm longpass
filter and captured many 90s runs over the space of more than 2 hours.
Rhea is the
prominent moon at lower right with Titan visible at the lower left of the
frame. Enceladus and Mimas
can also be located but much fainter, and I also spotted Janus
in some of the individual images,
however it is not included in the Winjupos
derotation so it disappears as soon as you derotate and merge images.
Lots of dust/spoke activity can be seen on the left side of the ring, and also
various cloud features on the disk including some EZ detail (probably best seen
in the animation) and the large white southern spot rising at lower left.

Hi all, a
half hour of good seeing last night gave me enough time to record both IR and colour data for Saturn, both attached below.
Not a lot
of activity is visible here, there is a small spoke on the left of the ring and
some faint features can be seen on the planet.
The Seeliger opposition effect is visible,
the ring is noticeably brighter esp. in the colour
image.

Hi all,
here's an image of Saturn from early this morning in a short period of
reasonable seeing.
I used a Baader 685nm longpass filter, 13 images
spanning 47 minutes were measured and derotated in Winjupos.
There is also an animation of all frames included here and at the link below.
Some spoke activity can be seen, in particular what appears to be very dark
spokes passing across in front of Saturn, trailing the large bright oval at
lower right.
This
pattern of dark spokes following close behind the prominent white southern oval
has been fairly consistent lately.

Hi all, here's an image of Saturn from just after
14 images spanning 55 minutes were measured and combined to
get this result.
Some small spoke activity can be seen as well as the moon Tethys at lower left.
The animation shows some more features on the disk but the
seeing was not steady enough to see them in high resolution.

Hi all, here's
an image of Saturn from this morning in variable but mostly poor seeing.
At the
start of the session there was a very dark spoke on the sunrise (left) ring
which I followed for some distance
across before the seeing became too poor to continue.
9 images spanning 27 minutes were derotated and
combined in Winjupos.
Also visible on the disk is the bright southern spot and included at the link
below is an animation of all the data collected in the session.

Hi all, here's an image of Saturn from this morning in a
short period of very good seeing using a Baader 685nm
longpass filter.
Some spoke activity is visible on the ring at left as well
as the large southern white oval just right of centre in the southern
hemisphere.
Also visible is a prominent light spot very close to the south pole (see inset).
5 images spanning 14 minutes were measured and combined in Winjupos
to get this result.

Hi all,
here's an image of Saturn from this morning in quite good seeing.
Also
attached is an animation from all 30 recordings covering about 90 minutes,
quite a lot of detail can be seen moving across the disk although a lot of it
is faint.
There is some dust/spoke activity seen on the ring at left, and the most
prominent feature on the disk is the bright spot rising at lower left.

here's an image of Saturn from earlier tonight in good seeing.
A lot of
dust/spoke activity is present on the left of the ring and a number of bright
storms can be seen in the southern hemisphere.

here's an image of Saturn from this morning in reasonable seeing using a 685nm longpass filter.
The faint
remnant from the great storm of 2010/11 is faintly visible and there are some
small indications of dust/spoke activity in the rings.

spanning 36m were derotated and combined in Winjupos to get this result.

It is looking normal for the season.

Hi all, here's an image of Saturn from this morning in
variable seeing,
I recorded 10 runs when it was steady but a lot of time was lost when the
seeing was poor.
Only small signs of dust/spoke activity can be seen, the
animation shows it the clearest.
The moon below and right of Saturn in
Rhea.

Hi all,
here's an image of Saturn from this morning in below average seeing.
The bright
southern spot can be seen setting at lower right, and
there is a large, diffuse bright feature visible just below the ring in
southern equatorial region that seems to be comprised of two separate
components, vertically separated. More dust/spoke activity is visible as well.
The link below includes an 11-frame animation that allows some of these
features to be seen more easily, although the seeing was not very good.

spot, 10th September

Hi all,
some good seeing for a while on Saturn this morning.
I recorded
more than an hour of data and created an animation showing lots of dust/spoke
activity in the ring as well as a prominent light spot at about latitude -44
and 345 degrees L2.
Attached is
a single image made from 12 of the individual captures, spanning 33 minutes
near the end of the session as well links to the image and animation.
For this
trip to Rubyvale I've brought a Player-One Uranus-M
camera modified to remove the imx585 sensor glass cover. If the seeing
cooperates this should provide a small improvement.

A number of recent events have kept me somewhat distracted
from my imaging, so it was nice to be back in the observatory this morning.
I rated seeing as average/below average.
Syrtis Major
is to the left, with
The North Polar Cap is prominent, and there may be a few
reddish spots(possible dust activity).
In the G, there may be a small bright spot near the northern
tip of Syrtis M, which may be close to the
Perseverance Rover.

Another quick shot of Mars
Mars was taken in daylight near the central meridian.
It seems normal for the season. Solis Lacus is barely
visible in upper left side of the disk and Mare Sirenum
is on the upper right side.
In B light, you could easily see the North Polar Hood (NPH).
