Brian COLVILLE #227

Letters to the Editor

from Brian COLVILLE in CMO #227

@ . . . . I have attached the first images which I have processed from last night (Dec 27-28 UT). These three images were taken in the near-IR, and cover a span of approximately 2.5 hours. I have yet to process the RGB components, but hope to have them ready tomorrow.

These images show a few interesting features:
 1) a number of dark spots in the NEB, SEB and EZ
 2) a broad V shaped dark plume(s) along the NEBs extending into the EZ
 3) much of the EZ is filled with darker material which I have not seen to this degree before. It almost looks like the space between the NEB and SEB has been filled in.

I will distribute the colour images when I finish processing them.
