Gianni QUARRA #212

Letters to the Editor

from Gianni QUARRA SACCO in CMO #212

@ . . . . I must apologise because you have not heard from me during the last Season Holidays. Unfortunately I have been very busy in Rome looking after my younger brother who was hospitalized for several health problems. I have left all contacts and work matters behind and only now I'm slowly returning to my normal life here in Firenze.
We have not started to observe Mars regularly yet, because our new telescope is not ready and we hope to be able to start our Mars observations by mid March. We also have booked a two/three weeks observing session at Tenerife Island during the first half of April, where we should be using a 50cm Cassegrain to follow a complete Mars rotation in different wavelenghs. We are not sure to go Yet, it will depend on my work situation during that period.
In the meantime we have tried to use our old Cassegrain but due to the very unstable weather we could catch only a few images of which I send you a sample.
I received your CMO #211 regularly and thank you very much for the news, which are very welcome during this Mars aproaching period.
Hiromi-san and Claudio will arrive in Japan on March 6 and will stay until late April. I don't know if I will go to Japan before their departure.
Hope everything is fine with you, your family and all CMO friends. Look forward to meeting you again in April if I will have the chance to fly to Japan (actually a trip to Japan would compromise our trip to Tenerife Observatory).
