WARELL #215

Letters to the Editor

from Johan WARELL in CMO #215

@ . . . . Today I have put on the mailbox six observations of Mars made the past week and a half. We finally got some spring here and a rather stable high pressure area which gave us a few clear nights.
In the end of March there was a distinctly yellowish bright cloud on the morning limb over Tharsis, very extended. A week later, Hellas was very apparent on the evening limb.
The low altitude of Mars results in troublesome seeing conditions and not much detail seen, but I plan to follow it when weather conditions allow.
I will perform spectrophotometric observations and multiband imaging of Mercury at the Swedish Solar Telescope on La Palma in late April, and will take the opportunity to image Mars too.
