Myron E WASIUTA #230

Letters to the Editor

from Myron E WASIUTA in CMO #230

@. . . . Thank you for the recent issue of CMO and the summary of Mars observations in 1994/95 and 1996/97. I enjoy reading through this material and find it of very high quality. It is obvious that your network of observers is very skilled and dedicated! I appreciated the opportunity to participate in 1999, and am looking forward to working with your group again in 2001! In the meantime, I wish you health and happiness, and continued success with your work with the CMO.
I have remounted my 6-inch refractor and am now using a Tinsley mount from the 1970's. It is proving very strong and accurate. I am also building a 16" reflector, with hopes of completion in about 9 months. I am experimenting with an idea described by Alan Mac Robert whereby heat is applied to the mirror in a controlled way to improve the figure. Perhaps I will be able to use this telescope for future Mars work.
