Subject: Happy Birthday

Dear Masatsugu,

Happy Birthday and Happy New Year!

I have attached a small greetings from me and Jeff! Sorry for the color, but my scanner just broke!

Anyway, I hope you have a great birthday and MANY more! Let's hope that Mars will also cooperate and make this a great year.

Best regards,

. . . . . . . . . .Dear Masatsugu,

I believe I am the taller one! Sorry for the psychedelic quality -- I had just discovered that my scanner was malfunctioning-- not reading reds! I have attached the way the picture should look! I had only been using the scanner for black and white texts, photos, etc., and it wasn't until I scanned your picture that I discovered a problem. I took it to the store the next day and they replaced it at no cost! So I enjoyed your birthday, too!

The seeing and conditions here have been less than optimal, too. I just opened up the telescope let it cool down to look at Saturn. Now the clouds have rolled in! I hope we have better luck with Mars!

Best,

(8 January 2003 email)
