SCHULZ, Robert (RSz) Wien, Österreich 7 CCD Images (25 May; 3 , 9, 14, 23 June; 3 July 1999) 20cm SCT equipped with ST7
The image on 25 May (144°Ls) was caught in the evening at 20:20 GMT. The Red image at LCM=174°W, shot by 0.2 secs, shows well Propontis I and the foregoing several dark spots, but the npr is obscure, really so dull in B.
The R image on 3 June (149°Ls) at LCM=085°W produces the dark markings, and Ophir and Tempe look lighter.
On 9 June (152°Ls), RSz took at LCM=026°W where Oxia P is quite evident and also the Orestes extension is shown.
RSz produced two nice R images on 14 June (154°Ls) at LCM=328°W and at LCM=342°W: both show Syrtis Mj on the preceding side with a faint but definite description of Boreosyrtis. S Sabaeus is also evident, and S Meridiani is more inside in the latter. M Acidalium is coming. Because of the poor B images, the sph is not described, while on the same day Don PARKER (DPk) produced good images in B which show clearly a thick and large sph (cf the DPk image at p2717 in #230) though the sph is not so evident in R.
The images on 23 June (159°Ls) at LCM=246°W and on 3 July (164°Ls) at LCM=086°W were taken by the use of SBIG filters, but don't showed any explicit good result.
The B image is not for a colouring of the image, but very serious in the Mars observations since it should convey the image of the white mist/cloud distribution over the Martian surface. We hope RSz in the next apparition will improve the white cloud images by gathering more blue lights by the use of CCD chip at a level of KAF400E or better.
