Brief introduction to the Open Day.

The Hida Open Day has been called off due to the Typhoon disaster

The introduction to the telescopes, exhibitions, and observations of the sun, planets, and so on are planned on this year's open day. The digital images taken at both Kwasan (Kyoto city) and Hida (Kamitakara vil.) will be simultaneously online. Some of our research fellows will give comprehensive talks on the most recent topics of our fields of astronomy and astrophysics.

About observation

Kwasan Observatory
  1. 13:00 - 16:00

    • 18cm Refactor telescope
    • The solar images and the spectrum with the 70cm Celostat telescope.
    • Sketch of the sunspots.
    • The show of the real-time solar images taken at Hida observatory.

  2. 18:00 - 20:30

    • Observation with the 45cm Refractor Telescope (Moon).

  • 30 minutes' walk from the subway station "Keage".
  • Free shuttle service between "Keage" station and "Kwasan observatory" will be available. (Visit the shuttle page (Click!!) for detail).
  • 10 minutes' taxi-ride (cost: about 1300 yen) from the "Sanjyo" station, Keihan-railway.
